Master Plant Dieta
Dominical, Costa Rica, February 15-27, 2026

WHAT IS A MASTER PLANT DIETA?

A dieta is a major step in your life. A journey that is most naturally started by listening to a deep calling from within. When a deep calling from within is answered in harmony, a dieta can become like a proverbial breeze on your back. A breeze that may carry you for a lifetime, gently strengthening your connection to the forces of Earth and Spirit — the plants, the animals, the songs, the healings, the teachings, the silence, and the Source.

A master plant dieta is a traditional Amazonian practice involving a period of isolation, strict dietary restrictions, complete celibacy, and the ingestion of specific master plants. This process facilitates a deep connection with Spirit, allowing for personal healing and spiritual growth. The Indigenous people of the Amazon view a dieta as a study. A deeper initiation into the world of spirit, the plants, and the medicines. It is a time to expand your capacity for presence and to engage deeply with the spiritual force.

During this 10-day dieta in Dominical, Costa Rica, you will have the opportunity to work with either Chiric Sanango or Bobinsana. These master plants are renowned for their unique properties and teachings. By successfully completing a dieta and cultivating a relationship with these spirits over time, they can become powerful allies in your life. A dieta is a time of empowerment and a deep return to your true self. It offers fertile ground to plant seeds that may continue to grow for years to come—supporting healing, clarity, and transformation on many levels.

This journey could be seen as the start of the rest of your life.

Las Plantas

During this dieta you will be working with one of the Master plants offered. You will get to work with either Chiric Sanango or Bobinsana. You may feel a personal calling to one of these plants; if not, our facilitator, Dennis, will provide guidance to help determine the most suitable plant for your journey.

Chiric Sanango

Brunfelsia grandiflora: To Heal the Goosebumps

Chiric Sanango is sometimes translated as “healing the goosebumps.” It is known for its potent healing effect on the nervous system, and is often given to those who are frozen by trauma, numb to emotion, or disconnected from their body. It is said to heal the cold; cold emotions, cold thoughts, cold memories, cold ways of relating.

The experience of dieting Chiric can be intense, dependent on the dosage of Chiric taken. The first days can often bring chills, heat waves, tremors, fever-like symptoms, and physical discomfort, as the medicine moves through blocked or stagnant energy.

Some call Chiric “the fire teacher”—it burns through what is hidden.

It dredges up forgotten memories, repressed emotions, and unprocessed grief. And yet, Chiric is not cruel;, it’s deeply supportive. Its purpose is restoration. Once the walls are melted, what comes through is presence and warmth.

The body begins to feel again. The mind begins to settle. The dreams become teaching grounds, where ancestors, animals, and symbolic guides appear to offer messages or corrections.

In many traditions, Chiric Sanango is also known for teaching protection. It clarifies energetic boundaries and strengthens the will. It is often dieted by those who work with others such as healers, facilitators, and teachers, because it builds the capacity to hold space without absorbing the pain of others.

Bobinsana

Calliandra angustifolia:
The Mermaid of the Amazonas

A tree that grows along the riverbanks throughout the Amazon Basin, Bobinsana is known for her gentle, feminine, and emotionally healing energy. She is often given to those who carry grief, heartbreak, or trauma lodged in the emotional body. She is the tree that holds the most water of all the trees in the Amazon, and is sometimes Sirenita Bobinsana, the mermaid Bobinsana

Bobinsana’s teaching is not about force. She does not purge. She does not overwhelm.

She soothes, opens, and embraces.

Her presence is often described as maternal, both nurturing and clear. When dieted, she brings forgotten feelings to the surface and softens the protective armour we carry around our hearts. Many dieteros report crying without knowing why, or dreaming of old family stories, lovers, or children.

Bobinsana brings the past into view—not to relive it, but to release it.

During dieta, she can appear in dreams as a woman with long red hair, or a river spirit. She teaches through song and dream. Her icaros tend to be melodic, watery, full of flowing movement and tenderness. People who diet Bobinsana often find themselves singing differently—more from the chest, more from emotion than from control.

Bobinsana also teaches empathy, not just feeling your own pain, but recognizing and sitting with the pain of others. Her medicine is deeply relational. It builds bridges between people. It helps facilitators attune more precisely to the emotional texture of a room. In this sense, Bobinsana is not just a plant of healing, but also a plant of connection.

She is said to dissolve the illusion of separation and reminds us how to feel, how to care, and how to forgive.

Abuelita

Banisteriopsis caapi & Psychotria viridis

Maurillio Reis, a dear friend who has been preparing our Medicine in Brazil for the last 13 years, served as the Padrinho of Colonia 5000 for around four decades. Dennis considers Maurillio a true master in cooking medicine, affectionately referring to him as a Michelangelo of Medicine. In the last years, Maurillio has been stepping back from his role, entering retirement and taking a well-deserved rest from his responsibilities as a Padrinho. We received the last medicine from his hands more than 4 years ago.

It was a special blessing to discover that the owners of Florestral are long-time close friends with Maurillio. Last February, Maurillio visited Florestral and prepared a rare and special batch of medicine from vines and leaves harvested directly from Florestral's own land. This precious medicine, made especially for our dieta, consists of five distinct brews with three different concentrations and is cooked with two different species of vines. Each batch carries its own unique properties and ways of working with our bodies and spirits.

An added blessing is that these medicines will have been resting undisturbed for almost a full year before we begin our dieta. During this resting period, sediments slowly settle, leaving behind an exceptionally pure medicine known as "Vinho de Ayahuasca". This purity significantly helps maintain a calm and relaxed stomach during the dieta, creating the space for clearer visions and deeper teachings to arise, distinct from experiences with less refined medicines, where the stomach might tense or brace itself, often leading to more challenging visions, teachings, and unfoldings of the dieta.

We are immensely grateful for the rare opportunity to work with this high-quality medicine, crafted by a master and derived directly from the very land where we will gather and drink.

Having these brews present will offer a little school of Medicine during our dieta for the ones interested.
